Battlefield 6 Gamers Agree: Tasks Are Overly Demanding
The debut of the highly anticipated Battlefield 6 received significant enthusiasm, especially for its flagship multiplayer mode. Exclusively on Steam, live player figures reached a high of nearly 750,000. However, in spite of its success, many players are voicing discontent with several of the title's toughest challenges, which are mandatory to unlock specific weapons.
Players have started resorting to personalized games made via the custom game tool to achieve these objectives, highlighting just how grueling these challenges have become.
Grasping Battlefield 6 Tasks
Tasks represent Battlefield 6's fixed in-game challenges, as opposed to the frequently updated everyday and weekly missions. There are four classes of assignments, but while the majority only reward cosmetics and some tools, completing the weapon assignments is the exclusive means of obtaining a dozen out of forty-one primary weapons present in the game.
Several of these locked weapons could shortly find their way on rosters of the finest arms in Battlefield 6.
Gamer Backlash on Reddit
Within Reddit, players are understandably sharing their frustrations about how difficult and grindy several of these challenges are. An individual player emphasized one of the most egregious examples, mandatory for acquiring the KTS100 MK8 LMG:
- Neutralize 300 foes with LMGs
- Deal 10,000 close-range damage with LMGs
"This challenge is so terrible and totally unreasonable, I want to scream in frustration," is a comment that illustrates just how frustratingly difficult these tasks are.
The suppression mechanic in Battlefield is more diminished than before in the series, so it doesn't have anywhere near as many positive effects in fights as it had in previous games. It only tallies as suppression if you fire a burst without hitting the target.
At the same time, using an LMG from the hip is extremely unreliable and only works at point-blank proximity, which isn't typically where you want to be. That player also highlighted the irony in the SMG challenge, to unlock the SCW-10, which needs takedowns using ADS, when that task would be much better suited to hipfire kills, and vice versa.
Another Overly Demanding Task
One more community participant brought attention to an additional excessively hard challenge, this time in the marksman rifle class to obtain the PSR:
- Secure 150 precision takedowns over 200m with marksman guns
This is difficult enough on its own, but there's one more key thing to consider: many Battlefield 6 maps fail to facilitate combat at that kind of range.
There exists a reasonable assortment of map sizes, but because there are just nine maps in the game right now, it means you're limited to playing a specific urban map, a particular valley environment, and maybe an additional option if you're lucky if you aim to take long-range shots from a significant distance.
The Bypass
There is a workaround though: the portal. The custom game creator is a tool that allows you to create personalized matches on the battleground of your choice, complete with bots. This implies you can bypass the intended method… but it isn't truly in line with the developer's vision.
However, when tackling the tasks in a standard match feels like anti-playing, since you have to play in such an atypical style that harms both you and your squad, who can blame someone for completing them in a custom game so squad members are not disadvantaged?
Upcoming Tweaks
It won't come as a surprise if several of these tasks are made easier in the coming days or weeks, because should they remain unchanged, certain gamers simply won't get their hands on the restricted guns.
Currently, the community continues to share their thoughts on these strenuous battlefield assignments, anticipating a less arduous player experience in subsequent patches.
