Edwards along with Gary O'Neil represent the early candidates under consideration to succeed Vitor Pereira as head coach of Wolves.

Pereira was dismissed on the weekend following the squad's ten-game without a victory beginning to the top-flight campaign.

And both candidates - both of who have historic associations to the team - are part of the options to be considered by the Wolves leadership.

The manager is currently at Middlesbrough, which would pose a potential hurdle to his hiring at Wolves' stadium.

However the former Luton Town head coach - who played more than 100 of appearances for the club during his time as a player - is said to be a leading candidate for the vacancy.

The 42-year-old is said to have support from the club directors as they begin the search of hiring a fresh head coach.

Gary O'Neil is additionally appearing as a unexpected candidate, even though he would be a shock choice considering he was released by Wolves in the previous winter.

The ex- West Ham United player is currently unemployed meaning Wolves would not be required to provide any compensation.
