The loved ones of teens unaccounted for after a devastating fire at a venue in a Swiss alpine town are facing an excruciating wait for confirmed information and pleading for any details about their loved ones online.

The blaze engulfed the Le Constellation bar in the alpine resort, located in the Swiss Alps of south-west Switzerland, in the small hours of the first day of the year. Circulated video reveal the roof structure catching alight as beverages with sparklers are held aloft.

Authorities have warned that it could take considerable time to identify the those who perished of the tragedy, which killed four dozen individuals and hurt another 119. Authorities said on the latest update that 113 of the injured have been identified, with work ongoing to name the final individuals.

In the interim, relatives have been posting on social media to plead for clues about their loved ones who were at the bar that night.
