Mario's Galactic Adventure Preview Is Here, Revealing New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voices
The collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination unveiled the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. The reveal happened in a Nintendo-focused broadcast that centered on the forthcoming animated feature.
The sequel to the successful 2023 release The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this fresh entry will transport Mario to the distant reaches of the universe. There, he will encounter a new princess and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the offspring of the Koopa King.
An Interstellar Journey Based on Classic Games
Similar to the games from the Wii period that serve as its inspiration, Mario will depart from the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. On his epic voyage, he will reunite with some familiar faces, for instance the Luma, a breakout star from the previous film.
But it appears Mario and his sibling Luigi will confront a new threat in the form of Bowser's furious offspring, who apparently utilizes powers related to metal. Notably, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not only concentrated on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also features references to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Celebrity Voice Actors Returns and Expands
The movie will welcome back of the original voice cast, featuring Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to play Bowser Jr. The casting was verified by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.
A Significant Period for Mario
The upcoming Mario film is scheduled to arrive near the 40-year celebration of the original Super Mario Bros. game. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 promises to be a major period for Mario and his companions.
Nintendo confirmed a set of three fresh titles officially announced for the upcoming year, featuring Mario Tennis Fever, a release on Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
