A female charged with stalking Kate McCann reportedly deposited her a phone message which posed: "suppose I am Madeleine?"

Julia Wandelt, 24, who a jury heard has persistently claimed she was the disappeared Madeleine McCann, and her co-defendant are on trial accused with harassing Kate and Gerry McCann from June 2022 and February this year.

On Monday, the tribunal heard call records and data retrieved from phones documented Ms Wandelt consistently demanding Madeleine's mother for a DNA test during 2023 and 2024.

Madeleine's case in 2007 - as a three-year-old during a vacation in Portugal - is one of the most publicized child disappearance cases and remains open.

'I Am Not Seeking Money'

One voicemail, played in court, documented Ms Wandelt saying: "I realize I'm heavy and plain like Madeleine was, but I believe what I believe."

While one recording of Ms Wandelt's one-way conversations with Mrs McCann's voicemail expressed: "Suppose there is a small chance that I am she? Then what? Wouldn't that be crucial for you?"

"I am not seeking money, I possess a existence here in Poland, I just want to discover," the recording stated.

The panel was advised that via emails, text messages and calls, Ms Wandelt asked for a DNA test, forwarded early photographs to her phone in a attempt to show a similarity to Mrs McCann's disappeared daughter, and claimed to have "flashbacks" from a youth with the McCanns.

An intelligence analyst, a data specialist with law enforcement who gathered the information, told the court there "seemed to lack any responses" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt also communicated with acquaintances of the McCanns, based on the phone records.

On that date, the father responded to a communication from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, declaring she had "incorrect contact information."

On that occasion Ms Wandelt deposited a message on Mrs McCann's answerphone declaring "I won't give up and I intend to demonstrate my claim."

The court learned Mrs Spragg established a relationship online with Ms Wandelt prior to assisting her on a trip to the McCanns' property in that area in that winter.

Phone records demonstrated Mrs Spragg had reached out through communication app to Mrs McCann to express the media had portrayed Ms Wandelt as "a crazy person" but that she ought to be treated respectfully in the period leading up to the visit to Rothley, that area, in December 2024.
